Le Carnaval Spirituel – 30th Anniversary Summer 2008/09 Australian Tour

Fresh from their brilliant European Tour, Le Carnaval Spirituel returns to Australia this summer to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

Established in France in 1979, this fascinating troupe of international artists have for three decades delighted audiences worldwide with their colourful “joie de vivre” performances, bringing the stage to life with their mystic blend of ancient eastern spirituality and truly contemporary theatre.

“Le Carnaval’s” festive and rich tapestry of music, dance, yoga, martial arts and theatre evokes the timeless wisdom of India’s ancient Vedic culture.

Street performances will precede each of the stage shows, so the whole community will get the chance to glimpse a vibrant world – a world that has enriched and deepened the lives of millions of people for more than 50 centuries.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Govindas, the concerts are being offered free to the public enabling everyone, regardless of their economic situation, to take part in these inspiring events.

Established in 1979 in France, the troupe has toured extensively throughout he world enthralling audiences with their "out of this world" production.

“Bharat Natyam”  is an ancient form of divine dance from South India, performed thousands of years ago in the seclusion of the temple’s inner chambers,  not for the “public eye”.  Le Carnaval performs the divine dance in it’s traditional style and in a stunning contemporary East meets West fusion dance.

“Katak,” a dance, native to North India, is divinely graceful.  An enchanting spectacle - each movement  imbued with deep spiritual significance designed to elevate our consciousness and put us in touch with our “inner self.”  Classically-trained ballerinas from Russia add a very special magical touch

“The Manipur drummers” The unique dancing Manipur drummers is one of the highlights of the evenings entertainment. Renowned for their exotic, athletic dancing, this troupe captures the stage as they perform acrobatic feats and martial arts movements while flying through the air playing on their drums.

“The dance of the warrior” Choreographed and put to music, this performance is mesmerizing with its ballet of slight of hand and speed of sword. The audience is once again taken back through centuries, to a  time when warriors developed martial arts to protect lands from maraudinginvaders. Though lethal, these martial arts were amazingly artistic and graceful in their style.

The enthralling "Yoga Moves" transports us to a subliminal space with its beautiful stylised yogic movements set to a celestial musical score.
